Mission:

At Praxis we believe that humans are fundamentally Good and that the body has an innate knowledge of and drive towards health. Health as well as sickness, however, are not static states as the Mind, Body, & Spirit are constantly influenced by internal and external factors. Health, therefore, can only be defined by the individual, at any given moment, within the systems they inhabit.

We strive for a state of heath better referred to as Wellness and do so primarily using Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). This nearly 3000 year old syndrome based medicine presumes an interconnectedness of Mind, Body & Spirit and all their surrounding systems: from family to the environment and beyond. Using techniques including Acupuncture, Herbs, Energetic Massage (Tuina), Nutrition and Movement (Qigong) we treat imbalances in the body-system to create a shift towards a naturally occurring and increasingly adaptable homeostasis.

Together we can help you design the best treatment for you. The most effective treatments are actually the ones you helped create. Only you know best, whats working and what's not. You then test/practice them in your life, in real-time. We help you set the stage for maximizing this potential, tailor the treatments along the way with your input, integrating diverse perspectives of care, especially your own.

My previous career and education in Psychology and Green Building as well as my personal experiences in Yoga and Meditation all coalesced in my pursuit of a MA and Doctorate in Chinese Medicine at AOMA in Austin, TX. As a Virginia licensed practitioner I am honored to be able to use this powerful medicine to help clients with issues ranging from the physiological (e.g. pain, weight loss, infertility) to the psychological (e.g. depression, anxiety, addictions, insomnia). It is my absolute belief that there is nothing this medicine cannot do and that all ailments are connected, like the layers of an onion. My background in Counseling Psychology and client-centered approach means I'm willing to start the exploration of your wellness wherever you chose and I'll serve as a constant champion in your journey.
